Lemme tell you friends, there is nothing that will make me swoon more than a big- hearted Southern Queer, and this crooner and their whole band were such a joy! The show was not just concert, but also spectacle, performance, poetry, and spoken word. I walked away that night with a new poster in my head and here it is, called down from the inky ether.Its on 100% track with who I am though- Did you know in college I wrote research papers on televangelists? Did you know that in Graduate school I made church fans, and soap boxes. And finally, post grad-school I sewed a revival tent, created fabric portraits, did interviews with participants, and taught myself how to write code in order to mechanize the soap boxes to be used in a performance/installation? Well, that project to to-be-continued and finished before I die.Watching @willicarlisle and their oh-so-talented circus-stunt band brought all that back to me. And out this poster sprang. For all the deeply politicized rural and southern queers who speak and live their truth, no matter what. ❤️
