Burning House

from $0.00

While conversations about integration, in particular in the schools, are effectively over, conversations about inclusion and diversity are still very present. Historical AND current authors and thinkers highlight the ways that we are still trying to fold People of Color into white organizations without changing them or ourselves. And while diversity equity and inclusion departments in corporations and education were never going to make right centuries of wrong. it is disheartening to see them wiped away by conservative organizing. Their removal feels like a harbinger.

I hear Baldwin echoed in Ellen Berrey's 2015 essay: "Diversity is for white people: The big lie behind a well-intended word." I hear Baldwin echoed in Isabell Wilkerson’s brilliant new book Caste. Go read them, and Baldwin.

Some of the language was changed to match current norms and preferences around racial identity. You can find the original words and full text in Baldwin's Essay Down at the Cross from the book The Fire Next Time.

I'm doing a tiered pricing system with this one. Free prints are available for Black people
